How to find customers on Telegram: 5 methods that work
Every day people post in Telegram chats that they need a contractor, a supplier or a recommendation. Here are five ways to find those customers, when each one fits and where to start.
1. Answer requests in the chats of your niche
The warmest customers on Telegram are the ones who have already stated what they need. In groups people write “looking for”, “any recommendations”, “need a contractor”. You don’t have to explain why they need the product: you just have to reply quickly and to the point.
Find chats by keyword: cities, industries, professions, expat communities. Read each group’s rules and don’t post ads where they are banned. A useful answer to a question works better than a canned pitch.
There is one drawback: nobody can keep up with hundreds of groups by hand, and whoever replies first usually wins.
2. Dig through group history
A customer doesn’t vanish the day they post. Someone who looked for a contractor a month ago may not have chosen one yet. This is deferred demand: you can write to them later and refer to their question.
For example, a packaging supplier went through six months of group history, wrote to people who had looked for boxes in bulk and won 12 wholesale clients.
3. Buy ads in channels on your topic
Ads in topical channels and official Telegram Ads give you reach right away, but you pay for it. This method fits once you already know which offer works.
Check a channel before you buy: some channels and chats are inflated, and then you are paying for a dead audience. Look for live discussion, not just the subscriber count.
4. Message a collected audience directly
You can export the members of relevant groups and message them first. This is cold outreach, so the response depends on precision: the narrower the audience and the more specific the reason to write, the better.
Two rules. Write to each person individually rather than sending one text to everyone. And keep a calm pace: in Logger the default is 4 messages a day per account. The risk of a Telegram ban can’t be ruled out completely, and complying with Telegram’s rules and your country’s advertising and data laws is your responsibility.
5. Give the search and first conversations to an AI agent
Methods 1, 2 and 4 all run into the same limit, which is time: someone has to read the chats, reply first and remember the people who went quiet. An AI agent does this around the clock: it finds people with the right request, writes to them, clarifies the task and passes people who are ready to talk on to your team. Setup and oversight are still needed: someone on your team sets the scenario and watches the results.
That is how a rental agency found expat requests in chats, replied before competitors and got 140 rental requests in a month.
Where to start
Write down the phrases your customers use to describe their problem. Use them to find chats and read those chats by hand for a week: you’ll see how many requests appear and how quickly competitors answer them.
If the requests are there, start with methods 1 and 2: they reach the warmest customers, and you can begin by hand. When the manual work becomes too much, add automation. If you want to know how much demand there is in your niche, start with a free niche review.
